NEW YORK (TheWrap.com) - Shia LaBeouf is in talks to join the cast of Lars Von Trier's "Nymphomaniac," according to an individual with knowledge of the deal.
An erotic drama that will begin production in September and be released as two films, "Nymphomaniac" is Von Trier's follow-up to "Melancholia."
Von Trier's frequent collaborator Charlotte Gainsbourg is set to star in the film, which chronicles a woman's sexual escapades from her youth to the age of 50, as told by her husband (Stellan Skarsgard).
They will also release two different versions of the two-part movie, one more explicit than the other. Von Trier is no stranger to erotic or boundary-pushing fare, and Zentropa, his production company, has produced pornographic films.
LaBeouf is about to appear in theaters across the country in John Hillcoat's "Lawless," in which he plays a bootlegger. He has also finished a pair of other indie projects - Robert Redford's "The Company You Keep" and Fredrik Bond's "The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman."
He is also set to star in Hillcoat's next feature, "Triple Nine."
