Take 40 Live is set to blast off with the mighty Wolfmother playing live on Friday 2nd October at the Entertainment Quarter Moore Park, to celebrate the launch of Guitar Hero® 5.
Fans will be treated to a scorching free live set as Wolfmother showcase their new album "Cosmic Egg" which will be released on October 23rd. This is the first album released by the second lineup of the band, featuring bassist and keyboardist Ian Peres, guitarist Aidan Nemeth and drummer Dave Atkins, formed after original members Chris Ross and Myles Heskett left in August 2008.
Wolfmother recorded "Cosmic Egg" over a 2 month period in Los Angeles with heralded UK producer, Alan Moulder. The title of the album comes from a position in yoga described by vocalist and guitarist Andrew Stockdale as "like the fetal pose."
The resulting record is that it's at once a darker shade of night at one end of the sonic spectrum, and a euphoric light of day at the other and pre-release reviews have been well received amongst critics.
The first single, "New Moon Rising" is powering up the airplay charts after being released only days ago.
To be part of this unique event, which will be filmed live for television, head to the Entertainment Quarter from 5.30pm on 2nd October.
Wolfmother's debut self-titled album resulted in more than one million sales and sold out live shows the world over, multiple ARIA Awards and a Grammy, ensuring their status as one of Australia’s pre-eminent rock acts. It is only fitting that the newest instalment in the Guitar Hero® series, Guitar Hero 5, pays homage to the band by featuring them alongside iconic artists such as Nirvana, Bob Dylan, Vampire Weekend, Kings of Leon and Deep Purple.
Nadya Balzarolo, General Manager Promotions, Universal Music, said today "Wolfmother is the perfect band to launch this live series. Fresh from touring the USA and nearing end of their Australian dates, the band will be primed and ready to deliver their 'not to be missed' live show."
Philip Earl, Managing Director, Activision Blizzard Australia commented: "Guitar Hero has a huge local following, so we wanted to include Wolfmother, one of Australia's best home grown rock acts into Guitar Hero 5. Wolfmother joins an impressive international line-up featured in the game, including over 85 artists such as Coldplay, Iggy Pop, Tom Petty, Bob Dylan and Iron Maiden. We are looking forward to seeing all the Guitar Hero fans down at Fox Studios to celebrate the launch of the game."
Cosmic Egg is released October 23rd.
