DEXY'S MIDNIGHT RUNNERS 'COME ON EILEEN'

What a golden age of pop one hit wonders 'Come on Eileen' emerged from. It was preceded on the number one spot in the UK charts by Irene Cara's 'Fame' (the song endures but poor Irene is forgotten) and followed by Survivor's 'Eye of the Tiger' (Survivor who?). The song was a global hit, reaching number one in the UK, US and Australia. Sadly despite having one of the biggest hits of the 80s Dexy's Midnight Runners were not destined to become household names.
