NENA '99 RED BALLOONS'

This song was originally released in German and ultimately spawned both an English and French version. The song itself is a classic Cold War warning against nuclear holocaust, with toy balloons triggering a world war. The English version went on to be a massive hit in Britain and the US. Ultimately though it would be the only hit that Nena would ever have, although we're sure it's probably still paying the bills.
