The 'Born This Way' singer was moved to tears as she watched two contestants performing during the US TV-show 'So You Think You Can Dance.'

Appearing as a guest judge on the show, Gaga (aka Mother Monster to fans), was overcome with emotion when dancers Marko and Allison performed their routine to Jeff Buckley's 'I Know It's Over,' as it reminded her of her youth.

Gaga told the performers: "I'm just so proud of you. You really love to dance. There were so many things I did wrong when I was younger and so many things I wish I could take back.

"I felt every moment of that in your dance tonight. You are absolutely incredible. Whether you are number one, three or ten, you have it," she added.

And what of the shoe throwing?

Gaga was so impressed by performers Sasha and Mel and their closing routine that she threw one of her red leather platform shoes at the stage.

"In the dance community, when you do a really good job, what you do is you throw your shoe at the stage," Gaga explained before lobbing her giant shoe at the stage.

Audience members ducked as the dancers scrambled to pick up the shoe, holding it aloft to audience cheers.

Gaga then threw her other shoe to the choreographer of the routine, Sonja Tayeh, who was sitting in the audience, returning to her seat shoeless (and significantly shorter).

Lady Gaga has long been a supporter of 'So You Think You Can Dance,' performing on the show in 2008, and also hiring one of the dancers featured in the 2008 season, Mark Kanemura.

Nice justification but really if someone throws a shoe while you're onstage it means "you suck get off". I guess she's just received so many shoes, peanuts, rotten fruit and vegies over the years - she's trying to turn a negative into a positive. I hardly think the fellow who pitched a shoe at George Bush (and he ducked) a few years ago was thinking "good show George".

I've been a part of the "dance world" for over 40 years & I have never heard of any1 throwing a shoe on-stage to signify a great performance. Gaga is absolutely full of c r a p. She would have to be the most egocentric person on the planet. Everything, even some1 else's dance performance, ends up being about her! ARGHHHHHHHHHH!

I remember as young fellow when I was interstate truck driving waking up after a long night on the road and finding a thing stuck to the bullbar that looked just like lady gag gag. It amazed me as I could not remember running over it the night before. Must have been a nightmare.

I guess that realisation about her own complete lack of talent had just set in. Hence the tears.
