PICS: Publicity stunt or real?

The singer's latest single is accompanied by a video which depicts her shooting and killing a man in public, who it is later revealed attempted to sexually assault her, but Ri-Ri – who suffered a split lip, cuts and bruises to her face after an assault by then-boyfriend Chris Brown in 2009 – says she can't prevent her young followers from seeing violent images.

Rihanna took to Twitter to defend herself: "I'm a 23 year old rockstar with NO KIDS! What's up with everybody wantin me to be a parent? I'm just a girl, I can only be your/our voice!

"We have the freedom to make art, LET US! Its your job to make sure they dont turn out like US.

"U can't hide your kids from society, or they'll never learn how to adapt! This is the REAL WORLD. (sic)"

Rihanna previously revealed that the attack by Chris had a "subliminal" effect on her, changing her entire outlook on life.

The Barbadian beauty said, "There was definitely something subliminal happening. It was coming out in the way I dressed, the way I did my hair, the way I talked, the way I took my pictures, the kinds of pictures I wanted to take.

"It was a very aggressive and defensive time, and that allowed me to start not giving a s**t. I walked around with a very f**k you attitude."

If it's allowed on TV the the problem is with the censorship laws not the pop singer.

Un-cool!!! If s guy does that, it would totally be unacceptable. She just thinks she can do anything. Her head is way too big, condoning violence to young sensitive & impressionable kids. Such a shameful act and lacks moral decency towards humans and her fans. I used to like her... now I just turn off... How can you defend shooting someone and says its okay??!!

How can you shield kids from all this when it is on the mainstream? I remember when I was growing up in the 1980s, one of the things I looked forward to most each week was checking out the weekly top 10 show. Now I won't encourage kids in my care to watch it, so they miss out. The quality of music hasn't improved either. These days, all you need is a pretty face and passable voice, willingness to be a puppet - you can be a star.
