Either Britter's camp didn't do their research, or perhaps they didn't think anyone would mind, but the gun stunt has been seen in poor taste, especially given Hackney was affected by last month's London riots.
Britney shot the video clip for her upcoming single 'Criminal' while on tour in the UK this month.
The 'Baby One More Time' singer's reps say the video depicts Britney and her boyfriend Jason Trawick "in a Bonnie and Clyde-style set-up, holding shops up while on the run as armed robbers".

Reps in Hackney Council have hit out at the pop star's camp, saying it was in poor taste. On Monday it was confirmed that they approved the video shoot, but "did not agree that a replica gun could be used on location".

They have also claimed the Britney carrying the gun glamorises violence, and that the pop star should "apologise... for the rudeness and damage she's done to our community".While Hackney council may want an apology, it doesn't look like they're going to be getting one any time soon.Britter's camp have just released the following official statement."The video is a fantasy story featuring Britney's boyfriend, Jason Trawick, which literally plays out the lyrics of a song written three years before the riots ever happened."Guess that means they won't be apologising then?

i bet the town makes money of her being there, so get over it.... my neighbours do worse then that on a good weekend geez straighty one eighty
ReplyI think it is bad enough she is still trying to sing!!
ReplyI'm not a pop fan, but if the council gave permission for her to make a video there, they can't impose any sort of control about what the video depicted - free speech and freedom of expression being what it is. So what if they thought it was in poor taste - if people don't like the theme, they won't watch it or support it.
Replygo brit ill fill your barrels anytime
ReplyI find it very hard to believe that the idiots who rioted did so because of Britney Spears. She is considered lame by anyone who cares about being cool. (I think it's the manufactured side of her career) Chances are, if Britney performed rioting behavior in a music video the number of people rioting would have decreased. The people responsible for rioting were the rioters, first and formost, and their parents/guardians, at least partly. Britney? No, not even a little. The story did not mention that the council asked for a sizable donation as well as an apology. They really just want money. I hope she goes on ignoring them.
