As far as rock'n'roll concepts go, cartoon bands have about as much credibility as manufactured groups. Enter Gorillaz to smash both of these systems, overpower the global pop market and earn miles of critical adulation in the process. So it was in 2001 and with their new single at Number 3 this week, 2005 looks set for a big comeback.
