So we’re cheating a little with the ‘emerging artist’ title. Dallas Crane have been around since 1996. A couple of the band members used to be carpet cleaners before a passion for rock took them and a couple of mates onto the Melbourne gig circuit, first as ‘Tempered Kin’, fast becoming ‘Dallas Crane’.
Eight years later, after relentless touring, 2 self-funded albums and enough critical accolades that you’d think they definitely don’t deserve the ‘emerging’ tag, they have a self-titled album and a tour on the way.
Watch the videos for Dirty Hearts and Ladybird. Consider that the band have gigged with the likes of You Am I, Regurgitator, Ryan Adams and Dan Brodie And The Broken Arrows. Think about the fact that Tim Rogers repeatedly refers to Dallas Crane as the best band in Australia and that the band also won the major prize at the Australian Live Music Awards.
After a series of brilliant live performances at Big Day Out, the Jack Awards and various venues around the country, 2004 should be the year for Dallas Crane. Get into it!
