NEW YORK (Reuters/Billboard) - The Rolling Stones' new
single, "Streets of Love"/"Rough Justice," will be released
Aug. 22 in the U.K. as a limited edition, numbered CD and on
seven-inch vinyl.
"Streets of Love" was given its first British airplay on
Friday on national AC/pop station BBC Radio 2, while "Rough
Justice" has been heard on rock-oriented U.S. outlets.
Both tracks will be included on the band's first studio
album since 1997's "Bridges To Babylon," which is due in early
September via Virgin Records and has yet to be given a
confirmed title.
However the authoritative Rolling Stones fan Web site,
http://www.iorr.org, reported that radio stations have been
saying that the new album is called "A Bigger Bang." A Virgin
spokeswoman in New York was unable to confirm the title
speculation.
A day before Mick Jagger turns 62, the Stones are in their
regular rehearsal home of Toronto preparing for the Onstage
world tour, which begins Aug. 21 at Boston's Fenway Park. They
have just added an Oct. 5 date at Durham, N.C.'s Wallace Wade
Stadium.
